Hello friends! I know I know long time no read -> I've been very busy catching up on my beauty sleep, really.

This past summer my brother Riley & I went up to Maine to cheer our dad who was participating in a triathlon called the "Lobsterman Triathlon." I truly believe that if it weren't for us calming his nerves pre-race he would have been very nervous indeed.

Cheering at triathlons can be exhausting so I made sure that I was comfortable.

Wow - a whole year is over and a new one is beginning! I know it looks like I've had a few of Lacie's smoothies, but trust me, I have not. In fact this is an old picture but mom liked it so much that she had to use it.

The other day when I was reading my Runners World magazine I flipped the page only to feast my eyes on this:

Do you know who this is?!! Do you know WHO this IS???!!! It is Velcro the Australian cattle dog with her mom Penny! Don't they look great?

They were part of a Runners World article about running with your dog. They inspired me to perhaps start running myself.

So last thursday I decided to do a little dumpster diving to satiate my appetite because, honestly, 1/2 a cup of food a day is simply not enough! I am part beagle! I need to look like a foot stool! What part of this do you not understand mom? dad? So anyway, I found a lovely used feminine hygiene product ready for the taking and eating right in the garbage.

I trotted downstairs to have some "alone time" with my prized possession when mom had to ruin everything by telling me to "drop it." Being the good girl that I am I did (who is kidding who? I thought there'd be a food reward involved). Well as soon as I dropped it guess who grabbed it and SWALLOWED IT WHOLE!

One guess.

So now we are watching and waiting for the offensive object to pass. So far my brother is doing well. He is his usual grumpy JRT self with no vomiting. Watching and waiting.

Woofing through the Boston Marathon

Hello doggie bloggie friends! Okay, I am sorry but today's post is not really 100% dog related but I just have to say that I am so SU-PAW proud of my mom & dad for running in the 114th Boston Marathon last Monday!

Here is a picture of mom

She is proudly sporting her Canadian maple leaf & her nickname "Stinky" below it so that people would cheer for her. Sadly, she missed seeing Norwood's mom in Wellesley but she certainly felt their sup-pawt. And, trust me, she really needed it.

Speaking of sup-pawt...look at this super duper pawsome sign made by Agatha & Archie! Mom was so very happy to see this sign - it really made her day. Thank you!!

Unfortunately dad did not see the pawsome sign in pawson (likely because he blew by at warp speed) but he knew that the DWB pups were cheering/howling/woofing!

Riley turns 11

A few weeks ago...okay, SEVERAL weeks ago my dearest brother Riley turned eleven. We were too caught up in Olympic hoopla! at the time to post but not too caught up to forget about his birthday.

In true birthday tradition we took our annual barkday trip to the Polka dog bakery so that Riley could pick out his cake:

When we got home it was all that we could do to hold back from eating the WHOLE cake!

I know that the USA celebrated Presidents' Day on Monday - but I got to celebrate "Presents Day" on Sunday. That's right Sunday was my barkday and my square valentine Eric did not forget to spoil me!

The postman brought all kinds of goodies!

It is always polite to open the card first (that is what my mom said) - look at the card!!! It was paw made just for MOI!!!

I think Riley was jealous that I got a special red rose from Eric Square - when you press it it says "I love you" - oh Eric! I love you too!

In paw-paration for perhaps a date(?), Eric sent me this BEAUTIFUL coat and a matching purse. I feel like a cute little ladybug in my coat. I also got this super duper "food game" - MY Eric knows that the way to a Chihueagle's heart is through her stomach!

I had to demonstrate my food game skills and my jacket outside so that Riley wouldn't try and get in on the action.

Pawsitive Thoughts for my furr-iend.

Hello friends.
Today I am sending special pawsitive thoughts out to our friend Mini the beagle. She is one of my mom's patients and our special friend. Last week she had to go to the emergency hospital because she had a blood problem. Well the good news is that she is home!

What makes Miss Mini so special? Well besides being a beautiful girl she also lives in a house with a JRT just like I do! Her JRT sister is Maggie:

On Sunday we took a car ride to go and visit her in the hospital.

Unfortunately we didn't get to go in and see her - I think mom wanted her all to herself!

Maybe if I offered her one of my canine cannoli it would help her get better?

I thought I better try one just in case....

Besides - she can have Riley's cannoli.

Anyway, please send some pawsitive thoughts to our friend for a speedy recovery; she is very special to us and we want her in good health! We love you Mini!

Mission accomplished

Hello blog friends. I know it has been a while and I trust that you all had a most wonderful holiday season. So the title of today's blog is "mission accomplished." What mission do I speak of? Well, some of you know that my pawrents were training for a big race called the "Goofy Challenge." Completion of the challenge requires finishing the Walt Disney World half marathon (13.1 miles/21 km) then finishing the Walt Disney World full marathon the next day (26.2 miles/42'ish km). The race took place this past weekend in Orlando, Florida during an unseasonable "arctic blast" cold snap with temperatures as low as 25*F. Neither the chilly temperatures nor the sleet nor the rain could keep my pawrents from their mission - I am so proud of them.

A couple of weeks ago I had the opportunity to visit some of my NY pals and my *sweetie* Eric, well flat Eric in the city that never sleeps - New York Cit-tayyyy!

Believe me when I tell you that flat Eric was indeed there - he flew all the way over the big pee I tell you!
(although he appears invisible in these pictures - maybe invisibility is a side effect of jet lag?)

Here is a cute picture of Asta welcoming us into her home on a rainy day. Flat Eric said he was sorry that he brought the rain with him but I think the rain was from the tears of the other DWB friends that were unable to make it to the big apple.

We took the Amtrak train from Beantown to NYC. Unfortunately, Riley and I had to shrink ourselves to go unnoticed by the conductor. Since it was a bit wet outside the group decided to stop for a "cap-paw-cino"

After our hot drink we then decided to stroll along 5th avenue to see the Christmas windows. Unfortunately the weather insisted on not playing nice so we ducked into a really neat store called Takashimaya. They have a lot of really neat Japanese articles there and a booootiful floral department!

This was the only picture that we could get before we got disciplined for posing with the posies. After taking a tea break in the fancy tea shoppe downstairs we attempted to stroll along 5th Ave again before heading home to Beantown.

Hello friends. I hope that you are all well and enjoying your post turkey/Thursday bliss. Yesterday I had much to be thankful for. In addition to having wonderful friends and family, I was blessed with two special guests at the dinner table:

Eric was super excited to be having Thanksgiving dinner at Nana and Pops' house. He did comment that he thought the turkey was "rather fowl" on inspection but he was just being a funny boy!

He could NOT wait to sink his chops into some din-din:

For a flat boy he certainly was a good eater, paws down!

Hello DWB pals. I am writing today to BEG you to please consider helping my mom. My mom has the possibility of representing the Animal Rescue League of Boston in the 2010 Boston Marathon. She is raising pledges to try to be picked as the runner who will get the marathon number that has been given to the League. The winner will be based on who can raise the most in pledges between now and October 31st. 100% of donations raised will go to the charity.

The Animal Rescue League of Boston is a humane organization that: places homeless pets with loving people, helps prevent cruelty and neglect, promotes humane education as well as other services for animals such as veterinary care, animal rescue, foster care, rehabilitation and training. Additionally, next May my mother is turning 5.714 dog years (40 in human years) and it would be great if I could help her attain one of her dreams as a 40th birthday present - that is, to run the Boston Marathon.

Last weekend some of my DWB buddies came to visit...or so I was told. You see - as a special surprise my special square sweetie got us a private room at the Hotel Doglowe. I am pretty sure that Asta, Duffy, Lacie, Agatha & Archie, Mango and Dexter were around but I do not remember seeing them too much.

Okay, okay!

I can't wait! I am super excited for my DWB friends' visit this weekend. I know I don't look it in this picture it is just that I have gained a little weight and the dress is let's say, a little snug. Lacie told me that "snug" was good so I will take her word for it.

So far the plans are weather dependent but I do know that a trip to the famous Boston Public Library, the Freedom Trail, dinner in the North End (Italian) and a visit to Mango's estate is on the schedule.

Sorry friends, I know that it has been a long time...

While Elizabeth was in the hospital we invited her fur baby Eli Manning C. to come over.

Remember I had you all consider your bucket list a few posts back? Well, our friends E & B checked off one item from their bucket list by getting a dog! I am pleased to introduce Eli, their new bundle of fur. He was adopted from a rescue and travelled all the way up from Tennessee.

Don't worry Eric my sweetie pie, I still only have eyes for you! Plus, we haven't met him pawsonally yet. I have a feeling that mom thought that Riley would have been too overwhelming for him because we all know that I am a perfect angel.

Mom & dad went to meet him yesterday and said that he was a wonderful dog!

Thanks to the crack nursing team of Asta, Agatha and Lacie I recovered uneventfully from the annie-stetik...my recovery from Lacie's smoothies was a different story (see picture below). Thank you to my nursie friends and to my handsome square dog Eric for helping me through my recovery.

Even Riley donned a pair of scrubs to try and help out - frankly I think he was just doing it to try and nab a Lacie smoothie.

Here is a pic of my "franken butt" - mom says that she will remove the stitches for me in a couple of days; just in time for Petey and Rosie's wedding!! Woot!

By the way - my lump that was removed ended up being benign! Phew!

Hello.

Just a little update to let you all know that I recovered from my plastic surgery and dental procedure. Before I forget thank you all for your pawsitive thoughts. For some reason those "annie"sthetiks drugs made me very sleepy and it took me longer than the average patient to wake up.

Firstly, I told mom that I am not your average chihueagle!! Secondly, I was dreaming of my dear sweet handsome square dog and did not want to wake up - would you wake up if you were dreaming of this??

addendum: okay, I did wake up from my dreams only to answer the celly phone because it was Eric! He called from all the way over the big pee to make sure that I was okay!! THANK YOU!!

Plastic surgery?

I hope that all of my American friends had a most wonderful "Indapanties day" yesterday.

A little news. In pawparation for meeting a handsome square dog (some day), I have decided to have a little surgery. Mom says that she is worried about a couple of lumps that I have but I think that it is plastic surgery for Eric. While I am under anesthesia getting my lumps removed I will also have a dental procedure to make my pearly whites glisten.

I cannot wait for Eric to see the new and improved me.

Wish me luck my procedure is tomorrow (Monday).

Since Riley is the only canine Canadian he gets to have his picture on the blog today with his maple leaf bandanna on.

The recent news of my 2 legged friend "E" getting breast cancer has gotten me thinking about a bucket list, or rather a dog treat jar list. What would be on your treat jar list?

This is mine - so far:

1. meet my sweetie Eric nose to nose (even though I would probably howl at him).

2. have my pawrents hand feed me my meals

3. have Dr. Izzy's homemade doggy ice cream treats for dessert every day for a week

4. be able to participate in Junior Earthdog

5. roach in every Boston pahk (park)

6. NYC pet boutique shopping spree

7. eat a Montreal bagel with Ms. Brador

8. sleep a full 22 rather than 20 hours a day

9. eat the giant hamburger all by myself (see picture above)

A Momo-rable visit in Toronto

Last weekend Mom and Dad left us left us...again. They claimed they had a wedding to go to but when they returned all I heard about was what a wonderful time they had in Canada and how happy they were to see Momo & Pinot, baby brudder, J & R. What??!!!! MOMO and PINOT and BRUDDER and PAWRENTS!!! Are you kidding me??

Memorial Day weekend in Vermont

Last weekend mom & dad made my brother and I go to Vermont. I begged and pleaded to stay in the city because my friends were coming to visit...but all of my cries fell on deaf ears and we were smuggled away. They said that our friend Gator was running a marathon and he needed our support. At least we got to visit my friends "Ben & Jerry" (see picture above).

We tried to go on a tour but apparently dogs are not allowed. Sheesh. I was so upset that I had to go to the ladies room to regain my composure.

We did get to see this interesting site - the flavor graveyard. I was a wee bit scared and wished that Eric Square was around to hold my paw.

After Myrna & Gilbert's wedding and reception Eric and I decided to get a little "alone time" before heading back to our respective homes. We took a long romantic stroll along the banks of this pond - sniffing out deer and duck poopies along the way....

We checked out the beautiful flowers in a nearby garden....

After several hours of sniffing and roaching Eric took me to this very exclusive and romantic restaurant - the tables are INSIDE a nursery greenhouse!!

We sat at this table (check out the legs!)

(we really didn't drink THAT much wine)

Eric was a little tired & tipsy at the end of the evening

Eric where are yoooouuuuu?! part 2.

My apologies for being so delayed but mom was busy with passing out beer to runners at the Boston Marathon yesterday and I think the alcohol fumes went to her head. Back to my story...

After enjoying a most deeeee-licious pupcake (tee hee) I started again on my search for Eric (also a most dee-licious pupcake!). I decided to ask these folks for information as I know that Eric lives very close to a very famous palace.

They told me that they have seen a most handsome square dog on their grounds but that he was not there at that time. I decided it was time to use my super sniffer to track down my pupcake - after all I am a beagle!

My sniffer led me to some beautiful daffy-dills:

Then across to a big park where I caught the Square dog scent by some deer poop.

My sweetie must have roached here! I was so hot on his tail...I mean trail that I could even envision him roaching...

Again, hot on the trail, I sniffed and I sniffed until....what did I see off in the distance? Could it be?!

Yes! Yes! It was my special pupcake! I sprinted as fast as my legs could take me!!

When I finally saw him I planted a big fat...oh wait! I don't kiss and tell!

After getting bumped off a "certain" flight by a certain U.S. President and wife, who shall remain *ahm* nameless, I finally got a lift to London via the most prestigious airline - Air Ruby. Using my super sniffer to track down my sweetie I went first to Portobello (mushroom?) Road as I recall he was there recently.

I took some time to smell the beautiful spring flowers...

Asked this fella if he had seen my hunny bunny - he replied that he had seen some hunny bunnies at a nearby bakery and that I should check there.

Yes, indeed they had some sweet bunnies - but THIS is what they were.

Of course I had to stop and sample a few as it was important to maintain my energy level. I sniffed and I wandered until I found this sign:

There was no way my hunny bunny, Mr. Eric Square would be any where near here (he is not a fan of a certain breed).

Oh boy! Oh boy! oh boy! I am so pawtastically excited!! I have my prettiest pink frocksie and I am all packed and raring to go!! Where am I going? Why, to see my bestest square doggy Eric over the big pee! I realize that I don't look very excited in my photo; I am worried that I will not look fancy enough for Eric now that he is a big "ballroom dancer" (see Petey's blog).

Anyway, I leave tonight. I hope those airport beagles don't all want to buy me a pawtini or else I may be too tipsy to board the plane!

After some time in the cubby hole/dog house we took our dad to the "lab" - this is where the magic happens and computer stuff is assembled...or something like that.

We rummaged through boxes

- I told Riley too stay away from the ladder as they are unlucky to walk under.

We looked for the appropriate hard drives, mother boards and the occasional treat.

The other day we accompanied dad to work to check up on him. He was having some difficulty with some computer stuff so he had to go in on the weekend to check it out. Above is a picture of us going to the car - only that isn't our car because it is red and Greta the Jetta is black, whatever.

My dad works in an area of a project that is actually called "dogfood" so we were super excited to go to work with dad. This is his "dog house/cubby" notice the "beware of dog" sign?

In my last post someone who shall remain apawnimous (his name rhymes with Tango) commented that my butt looked fat. In fact here is the exact comment:

Seriously?!! I mean look at the evidence provided in the pictures above and below!!? Do you think the apawnimous commenter accidentally sniffed too much of the "Mango" I mean "Tango" gas? Or maybe he actually meant to say that my butt looks PHAT? After all he WAS slobbering!

For those not in the "know"...the Urban dictionary defines "Phat" as meaning "cool" or "pretty hot and tempting." (Source: Urbandictionary.com)

Starting early yesterday morning we had a BIG snowstorm that dumped A LOT of snow in my back alley (see above). Now don't get me wrong I don't mind getting dressed up in my fancy coat to go and meet people (like A&A's PL or Asta's pawrents) but when it is single digit temperatures outside I rarely like to venture very far. In fact when it is this ch-ch-ch-chilly out I only take a few steps outside my door to do my business and then it is back inside to warm up. If you look at the picture above you will see that the footprints only make it part of the way out of the alley. Maybe if I lived in Montreal I would be a more cold savvy dog like Ms. Sophie Brador - mom is shaking her head because she does not think so.

First of all I would like to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY PETEY!!!

Now, as you may have read in Riley's bday post, we went to the Polka Dog Bakery last weekend to get a cake for Riley. Here's another picture of our adventure:

While there we also picked up a few things for our buddy Petey. These items were conveniently stored in this beautiful brown paper bag. Late Sunday afternoon Mom & Dad went grocery shopping and "conveniently" left said brown bag within snacking distance. When they returned home they found the bag with a hole in it!! The hole was big enough for a beagle nose!

Or, a Jack Russell Terrier nose!

A visit from Mommi, Daddi & PL2

As many of you know we had THREE very impawtent guests visit us this past week. Since they were of "celeb-paw-ty" status mom dressed us up for our meeting. Believe it or not she even "de-dog haired" Riley's jacket with the sticky roller thing!!! Silly mom!

Asta's mommi!! We were also graced with a visit from Asta's daddi and...drumroll please...Agatha & Archie's PL2!! Admittedly I was more keen on trying to sniff out where Agatha, Archie and Asta were.

After a brief visit we got too chilly to stay outside so mom took us home and met up with Asta's mommi & daddi and PL2 at Legal Seafoods restaurant. Here is Asta's mommi chowing down on some "Chowdah" as we say in Bah-ston (Boston).

Doesn't she look happy? Well either that or the cold made her face freeze in that position! Just so you know PL2 and Asta's daddi were also there but they were so fast that the pup-ar-ratzy could not get a picture!

Someone asked about Legal Seafood vs. Illegal Seafood on one of our friend's blogs...well let's just put it this way...the Legal Seafood restaurant is SERIOUSLY right across the street from this:

Before I reveal today's love poem my mom wanted me to tell everyone that the litter pan photo from the previous blog was not my kitty sissy's litter pan. I told mom not to worry - people would know that if it was Kiwi's litter pan it would be absolutely clear of Kiwi poop because I would have cleaned it all! The photo was actually taken from a site that has a recipe for "kitty litter cake"...believe it or not, it is actually edible for humans...although my mom says that the presentation leaves a bit to be desired! A gift from Sophie - pawt deux

So along with the pawsome stuffies, toys, FuBerry and iPaw, Sophie sent me some "Fido mints" - maybe it was in prep-pawration for my first date with Eric? Maybe it was a hint? Dad tried to offer me one

but I was too interested in my lamb stuffie. But then dad told me that they were kitty litter flavoured. I knew that Eric would more than appreciate kitty litter breath so I decided to try one.

The horror! They were minty NOT kitty litter flavoured! Dad tricked me! But I finished it anyway in hopes that Eric would appreciate my effort.

(Personally I think the gift was really for Riley so I persuaded him to give it a go)

In addition to all the aforementioned gifts Sophie also sent us special Quebecoise bandanas! Here is a picture of me with my bandana:

Ms. Sophie Brador's gift - part une

After staring at Sophie's gift for what seems like ETERNITY I finally got mom to allow me to open the package. As usual I tried to open it myself...

...but I didn't want to wreck my nails so I asked an unsuspecting bystander to help...

Wow! Would you look at the haul that the divine Ms. Brador sent!! Of course Riley had to stick his nose into my business when he saw all the cool gifts...

Mom and Dad said that it was rude to inspect the gifts without opening the card first - but I just could not help myself!

The card was addressed to both my brother and myself (I think Sophie was just being nice trying to include Riley cause I don't remember him being that nice to her when she was visiting us last summer! ahm!).

As much as I wanted to read the card to see what Ms. Brador had to say I had this irrefutable force drawing me to the plethora of stuffies

not to mention the FuBerry phone and iPaw music device!

Eric's gifts pawt III

The leg warmers and the scarf (ahm, for "Riley") were most pawsome gifts but the best was yet to come...

Eric was so thoughtful to include a prezzie for my pawrents - a magnet of me!! You can see it in the picture above - it is a most pawtastic likeness of me and my pupcake. Shhh! Don't tell anyone but I am kind of hoping for a magnet of dear sweet *sigh* Eric...tee hee...

The last present was the most near and dear to my heart. It was a special note written by Eric himself with a most beautiful PAW-made ornament in the shape of a heart!!!! I cannot tell you how giddy I was after reading his note!

I would share the contents of the note but I do not want to make him blush - you know he blushes the most handsome shade of orange!

I laid my head on the note in hopes that it would enter my brain through osmosis so that I would have his wonderful words ingrained in my brain fur-ever and ever.

I slept soundly with Eric's heart nearby....

Gifts from Eric! (Christmas paw-t two)

Hello all! Okay now that I have recovered from my New Year's celebrations time to continue my "tail" of Christmas day. I have already told you about the gifts that Santa(s) brought now I have to tell you about what dear sweet (*sigh*) Eric got me!

I needed help opening his beautifully wrapped presents because I just had my nails done.

Leg warmers! I got leg warmers! I guess Eric felt that if he could not keep me warm himself that he would send me over the next best thing...don't I look fabulous?!

...I have included a "leg" shot for sweet Eric...notice the hearts?

But that is not all there was more! Here is a pic of mom helping me open the next gift...

A scarf! Oh Eric! He is such a thoughtful square dog! The gift was actually intended for Riley but, in my opinion, it was accidentally mislabelled. Shhh! Don't tell him.

Look at me! Yes, I managed to slip out of my rear leg warmers (I was indoors after all).

Firstly, I hope that you all had a terrier-ific Christmas day, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa and/or Festivus! As I said before Santa must have turned a blind eye to all of the mischief I have been up to as of late - namely the numerous trips to the kitty litter box (yum!) and going over my "minutes" with all of those late night calls to sweet Eric! Do you see all of those presents behind Riley?? MOST of those were for US!!!

Above is a picture of yours truly near the presents. Do you see the ones wrapped in the decorative orange paper? Those are from (sigh) Eric!! I wanted to get at them right away for fear that Eric mailed himself over and could potentially be suffocating!

In case you were wondering the gift was a moose squeaky toy. Here is one of me - much less exuberant and more lady like....don't worry the jacket is made of "faux" fur...

We each got squeaky toys and greenies thanks to Nana & Pops:

I pleaded (after I finished my Greenie of course) with my pawrents to let me open my gift from Eric by giving them my sad hazel brown eye look....

Pawrents can be so dense sometimes so I had to hint a little stronger about opening Eric's gift...

Hello friends....I know it has been a while but mom was away in Michigan and dad was too busy working to help me with my bloggie...sigh.

Yesterday I received a verrrrrrry romantic peemail from dear, sweet Eric - can you see his handsomeness in the photo above? I know it is a small photo but it is not hard to see what a (sigh) cutie pie he is!

Anyway, he took this picture under THIS tree while out on a walkie. Do you think it is a mistletoad tree? I think so because there are berries on the tree and he strongly hinted that he was "waiting"....oh! he is so doggedly romantique!! KISS KISS KISS!

I am disgusted. "Someone" de-stuffed the goose stuffie. We have had this stuffie for years! Yes, for years! When you squeezed the goose it honked just like a real Canadian goose AND it was purchased in Canada, eh!?

Yesterday Riley and I went to the local dog run because it was a beautiful day and mom wanted us to have a chance to run around off leash. When we got there we met Mazie a beautiful young labradoodle.

After having a most pawtastic Thanksgiving dinner at my grandpawrents tonight I got so "tripped" on Tryptophan that I got the courage to dial up *sigh* dear sweet Eric. Please note, thanks to Petey I have a super cool pink celly phone to do so! Thank you Petey!!

Mom! What is Eric's number!? Oh wait! I have to call Petey first to thank him for the celly phone and to ask for some tips for conversing with Eric because after all they are best pals. Oh and I also have to make a quick call to Asta to wish her mommi a very happy birthday today. Riley wants to borrow the phone too - something about getting "gentleman" lessons with Lacie next week. That will have to wait - Mom! What is Eric's number, again?!!!

A fabooolous visit - Take 3

After a little bit of coffee to, er...umm...sober us up, Asta suggested that we take our humans out for a walkie.

Duffy agreed even though he was still a little tipsy I think

Hey?! Where's Petey? He had already grabbed his leash and ran out the door in excitement!

We met some interesting friends on our walk - and greeted them accordingly.

Duffy was convinced that he could see Eric and the UK when he looked out over the water. He would not believe us no matter how hard we tried to convince him that he was looking in the wrong direction because he was looking at Jersey and that even though I do not have anything against Jersey, being a Springsteen fan, maybe Eric might feel slighted comparing his country to the Jersey shore....but I digress...

After a lovely walk along the water my friends showed me their 'hood.

Such a beautiful area chock full of fancy stores and lovely brownstone buildings. Everyone was so friendly too!

Petey, wanting to give a good impression as Eric's best buddy, insisted on showing me all the best spots to get dog treats. He had to twist my paw real hard to convince me...

Look at the "big man on campus" flirting with the ladies! He is one smooth fella!

A fabooolous visit - Part deux

After a few glasses of Prosecco Petey & Asta had an ingenious idea of suggesting that all the pawrents or "two leggeds" as (*sigh*) Eric would say...insert dream sequence here...oh! anyway! Petey and Asta suggested that the bi-peds go and fetch something to eat.

So off they went to some frenchy french restaurant - Mom said that she had the best steak sandwich and frites ever! I, of course, would not know because apparently she didn't even think to save a crumb for me. Here is a picture of the yummy dessert they all shared:

As soon as the humans were out the door it was time to Paw-Tay!

Anyone for a game of tennis ball?

The four of us ran back and forth and back and forth in Asta's home chasing that fuzzy yellow ball! Asta's long hallway is just pawfect for running and getting up to full speed! Myrna decided to supervise whilst imbibing with her own glass of Prosecco - she is too sophisticated for tennie she said; plus she did not want to ruin her Chanel cloak.

After playing ball it was time for a game of bitey face!!

The other day the postman brought me a very special package from across the pond! I was so excited, a package just for ME!

I saw that the parcel was from Eric and thought that he had mailed himself to me so I went right to work at opening it

Look what I got!! A "pupcake" stuffie, a special pink "princess" wishbone chew toy, a card with a yummy "tail chaser" recipe on the back and two dog butts to sniff!

mom here...the doggy behinds are hooks, not for sniffing. Sorry Toffee

I was so very excited when I woke up this morning - election day was finally here!! I had donned my favorite Stephen Colbert t-shirt in anticipation of this potentially historic day.

I have spent months and months trying to sniff out the right pawson for the job

Finally I was ready to go to the polling station to cast my vote...of course Riley had to "poo-poo" all of my fun by trying to come along.

I tried to explain that Canada is ANOTHER country and that he was simply not allowed to vote. Well he pointed out his disgust by doing a "number two" right at the polling station.

Of course, then mom had to spoil my fun by telling me that dogs are not even allowed to vote!

Hmph! I guess my vote will have to wait until next time.

I am so excited for the Howl-o-ween pawty at the Tower of London this upcoming weekend! I wanted to dress up as a witch but mom said that may scare Eric away so we decided on this ladybug get-up instead.
I am working hard on my "flirty eyes" thanks to Lacie! (mom says I still need to practice more). How is this?
Riley is representing New England by (begrudgingly) dressing up as a lobster.
Mom made us pose together before we left to wait for Aire Ruby to pick us up - you know how pawrents can be about taking pictures! Sheeesh!
I have my bags packed and my pawsport ready! Eric! I hope you are feeling in tip top shape for the pawty!

A brush with DWB celebrity

All week my mom has been a "flutter" with excitement about meeting a certain DWB celebrity on Friday. I seriously had no clue what she was talking about since we have already had splendid encounters with Agatha & Archie, Momo & Pinot, Ms. Sophie Brador, and the Pawlimpic CEO - Lenny. What on earth could she be rambling on about?

After work on Friday night we made the trek to Rhode Island - are we going to see a Rhode-E-shun ridgeback? No. Riley tried to figure it out by reading the sign

but he realized that he cannot read. Next he tried to read some pee-mail on a fire hydrant.

No luck.

Finally we arrived at our destination - and who were the DWB celebrities you may ask?? They were none other than Asta's mommi & daddi!!!

(I think that Asta's mommi looks a lot like the lady in the painting behind them!)

Can you believe it!!! I got to meet Asta's mommi & daddi!! Look at me!

Okay, I was a little shy and aloof at first because I was eyeing the hors d'oeuvres in the distance. I did warm up eventually - but truth be told I was very overwhelmed by meeting such a celebrity!

...oh yes...and look at Riley...he always has to get in on the action...

Asta's pawrents were such lovely people! I am so happy that I had the opportunity to meet them. I couldn't help thinking that it was the pawfect meeting...except for one impawtent missing element...

Look at this most bootiful rose that my most special friend Eric gave me!! I am so honored and excited and oh I just don't know how to put my feelings into words. Do you think that ERic knows I have a crush on him?? **blush** ummm, thank you so much **blush**

I also received this special golden paw award from the sophisticated Asta! Believe it or not my pawrents get to meet up with her pawrents this Friday!!! Thank you Asta! I would like to pass this on to Ms. Sophie Brador as I think the "paw d'or" would highlight her magnificent golden locks.

So we were hangin' out getting ready for our work shift to start when mom dragged us out of the apartment an hour and a half before our normal departure. What was going on? She told us that we had a very impawtant playdate.
With whom? I wondered as I stared out the window...
Agatha and Archie!!! Oh my dog! I totally forgot!! You see originally we were supposed to go to the Arboretum but the ticks are out in full force and mom and A&A's PL apparently like their blood to remain in their body so they nixed that idea and decided upon the Jamaica (tick free) pond. I didn't care - I was just happy to walk with my friends!
Aren't they the best! Unfortunately mom forgot her camera so she only had the pics she took on the cell phone. For a better description read Agatha's post on our play date here.

We had a magnificent time! And to top it off Agatha and Archie even provided us with a snackie knowing that we had to keep our energy up for our work shift half an hour later.

Thank you Agatha & Archie!! You are the best!

pee-ess: I promised Lacie that I would not look at Archie - and I lived up to that promise - besides there was more than enough pee-mail to read to keep me occupied!

The other day mom and dad ran the Boston half marathon. The day before we went on a little adventure to scout out the race and to pick up their numbers at the registration tent. Above is a picture of us on our way to public transportation.

The "T" was a little crowded so dad had to carry me - notice he also has a mug of coffee!

With the recent problems in the stock market I decided to check how my 401 K9 plan was doing. So I dug through my pawrents' pile of mail and found my most recent statements.

OH. MY. DOG. Are you kidding me??? My 401 K9 plan has just plummeted!! What am I going to do? How can I retire to my comfy couch and munch on carob cookies and bully sticks to my heart's desire?

Desperate times call for desperate measures...

Polka Dog goodness!

My mom just started doing some per diem hours at a rescue league in the city. I was truly excited when I found this out because not only does this mean more treat money for us it meant that she could visit the famed "Polka Dog Bakery" right down the road! Check out the beefsteak in the window!

We did not go on this trip as mom did a "quickie" this time (during her break) to make sure it was worthy. Here is the bag of goodies that she bought:

This past weekend we traveled to New Hampshire to participate in a half-marathon relay. I honestly was quite surprised with how they did; they placed 4th out of 37 teams in their division! That being said the only reason that they did the race was for the homemade goodies, namely the Apple crisp, at the finish.

There was apple crisp as far as the eye could see...and the nose could smell...(note that the apple crisp you see was the top layer of a zillion layers!!!! woopee!
...plus there were these homemade delicacies....notice the Apple crisp in the background?

Yesterday dad stumbled upon this cool video while on the interweb. It is about an Airedale who found its way home after an unfortunate accident separated this pooch and packleader. A truly amazing tail and a happy reunion for all involved! To all of my DWB Airedale friends - I am in awe!

A day late...but not forgotten

Four years ago, on October 4th, my mom had to say goodbye to Bagel. Bagel was mom's first dog and the canine love of her life; her doggy soulmate. She adopted Bagel from a shelter in the city where she went to professional school. Unfortunately, they only had three and a half years together before Bagel succumbed to heart disease.

On a happy note - October 4th is also my grandma's birthday - sending out a heartfelt Happy Birthday shout out to my grandmother Sue! Woof.

I am so jelly (jealous) that mom and dad went whitewater rafting this weekend!!!! Instead Riley and I got to go to doggy camp, hmph! Mom must have felt guilty about dropping us off for the SECOND time this month because she paid an extra $12/day for Riley and I to have "play time." Well, that was a bust because "someone" (ahm! Riley) does not play well with others.

It is with such sadness that I write this blog to bid "adieu" to our dear friend Gizmo. While I did not get to meet Gizmo personally it was obvious that this little dog had a sweet disposition and a beautiful spirit. We hope that you are snuggling on a big comfy cloud in doggy heaven with our other DWB friends who have crossed the bridge.

Our thoughts go out to Gizmo's family.

Riley here. I don't know what they are talking about when they say that the hound dogs have such a great sense of smell because I, yes I, was able to sniff out a bittersweet chocolate bar hidden deep within the bowels of my mom's duffel bag. She had completely forgotten it was there from the race last weekend and I found it!! Sadly, the bittersweet chocolate bar was snatched away from me before I got to eat the whole thing - but don't worry not without a fight! Unfortunately I only got half of it!!!

How bittersweet.

Ellie! Where's MY cookie?

Many of you have asked how the race went for mom and dad so I begrudgingly asked them. They said that it went very well - i.e. they "reached the beach" in more or less one piece and they had FUN. If you ask me I cannot imagine how they could have fun without me there.

In case you are wondering the dog pictured above is Ellie. She is a standard poodle puppy and the fur sister of our friend Gator. Ellie and her pawrents went to cheer on Gator and the team; they even brought them homemade COOKIES!!! I am still wondering where my cookie is...

While Mom and Dad were busy running in their 200 mile relay race, "Reach the Beach," Riley and I were put into "doggy camp." Did you (ahm) notice the quotations?? I knew that we were in trouble when we pulled up and I saw the sign (above).
