It is not all about me. Please read.

That's right it is not about me...today.  Today I would like you all to go over to Stanislaw and Big Pupi's blog and read the post entitled "Observations on humanity."  In these recent times of sadness it is a most beautiful and inspirational post.  I am a better dog for having read it - please go and find out for yourself.

Soooooo jelly!

I am so jelly (jealous) that mom and dad went whitewater rafting this weekend!!!!  Instead Riley and I got to go to doggy camp, hmph!  Mom must have felt guilty about dropping us off for the SECOND time this month because she paid an extra $12/day for Riley and I to have "play time."  Well, that was a bust because "someone" (ahm! Riley) does not play well with others.

On a different note...mom came across this sort of interesting article about how the jellyfish got its sting (from a bacterium).  If you are bored and want to read it click HERE.  The photo in this blog is taken from mom's honeymoon pics (Monterey aquarium).

...cause he needed some "arrr!" and "arrr!"....ha!

And another joke: How much does a pirate pay for corn?...a buccaneer...get it buck an ear...

What is yarr best pirate joke?  Better be funny or yarr walk da plank!!

Dear, sweet Gizmo

It is with such sadness that I write this blog to bid "adieu" to our dear friend Gizmo.  While I did not get to meet Gizmo personally it was obvious that this little dog had a sweet disposition and a beautiful spirit.  We hope that you are snuggling on a big comfy cloud in doggy heaven with our other DWB friends who have crossed the bridge.

Our thoughts go out to Gizmo's family.

Please go visit Gizmo's brother Deetz if you have not done so already - I know he and his family are very sad.

But he followed me home!!

                                                  photo from: lou1982.blogspot.com
My friend Cuffy sent me a very cool link to the above photo yesterday.  Apparently the pawrent of this adorable beagle came home to find that he had an equally adorable houseguest who supposedly followed the beagle into the house through the doggie door!!  To read the blog posting on this click HERE.

Bittersweet chocolate.

Riley here.  I don't know what they are talking about when they say that the hound dogs have such a great sense of smell because I, yes I, was able to sniff out a bittersweet chocolate bar hidden deep within the bowels of my mom's duffel bag.  She had completely forgotten it was there from the race last weekend and I found it!!  Sadly, the bittersweet chocolate bar was snatched away from me before I got to eat the whole thing - but don't worry not without a fight! Unfortunately I only got half of it!!!

How bittersweet.

Mom here: Fortunately Riley was not sick at all - pheww!

Marking my territory

Above is a picture of Riley and I on MY spot - this concrete block/bench down the road from my home.  If you look carefully at the base of this block you will see that I have marked it as my own...
Do any of you like to mark your territory?

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!

Ellie! Where's MY cookie?

Many of you have asked how the race went for mom and dad so I begrudgingly asked them. They said that it went very well - i.e. they "reached the beach" in more or less one piece and they had FUN.  If you ask me I cannot imagine how they could have fun without me there.

In case you are wondering  the dog pictured above is Ellie.  She is a standard poodle puppy and the fur sister of our friend Gator.  Ellie and her pawrents went to cheer on Gator and the team; they even brought them homemade COOKIES!!!  I am still wondering where my cookie is...

Here is a picture of mom and a couple other runners with similar fashion "sense."
...and here's dad...
Ummm Ellie...I don't think that's a cookie!

Bored of boarding

While Mom and Dad were busy running in their 200 mile relay race, "Reach the Beach," Riley and I were put into "doggy camp."  Did you (ahm) notice the quotations??  I knew that we were in trouble when we pulled up and I saw the sign (above).

Below is a picture of Frankie, a long haired dachshund, who works there.
Mom and Dad came to rescue us last night!  Finally!  Catch you on the flip side Frankie!
Yayyyyy!  We're free!
pee-ess: Doggie camp does not have computers so I am sorry that I am behind in reading your blogs.  I will try and catch up over the next few days!

My thoughts and heart goes out to all of those doggies, kitties, hammies and people around the world who lost loved ones on 9/11.

This post is dedicated to you.

Mom & Dad went to CostCo and...

Yesterday Mom & Dad went to CostCo and look what they got ME
(Riley here: ummm...don't you mean "us?")

This more than makes up for the awfully tight dress they made me wear the other day.

Look at this awesome couch!!  As you can tell I am not so thrilled about having to share so I am trying to convince my pawrents to get another so that I can have TWO!

Whoopeee!
I will be nice and comfy watching the New England Patriots football game today!

Lazy day

Yesterday was a particularly lazy day for us because my mom was sick.  Don't worry we were all very good nursies and got my mom lots of fluids and made sure that she slept a lot - that part was easy because we are EXPERTS at sleeping!

pee-ess: Don't forget the weekend of September 28th - Blog like a Pirate Weekend!

My pawrents went to Hawaii and...

My pawrents went to Hawaii and all I got was this STINKIN' dress...you think I could have some of the special Kona coffee they ordered or some fresh fish or some chocolate covered Macadamia nuts...but nooooo!

mom here: Oh! Toffee you look so pretty in your dress...besides the Macadamia nuts will only make it fit tighter than it already does (ahm!)

...Mom, I will tell you EXACTLY what I think about these outfits....
ANNOUNCEMENT!  I wish to let all of my DWB friends know that my mom has a new blog in which she posts a photo a day for a year - it is entitled "A year though the eyes of Stinky" - if you want to check it out click HERE.  There is also a link in the upper left corner of my blog.

ANNOUNCEMENT! I would like to declare the weekend of September 28th as "Blog like a Pirate" weekend.  I hope you all can participate with me - you can dress like a pirate or you can speak like a pirate or you can chew on a stick that looks like a wooden leg, wear an eye patch - whatever you want. Please spread the word....arrrrgh!

Go Giants!

The New York Football Giants are back in my good graces after (deservedly) robbing my Patriots of their perfect season...do you want to know why??  Well...they have named "Snausages (TM)" as the official dog snack of the team.  That is to say that for every 3rd down (downward dog?) the Giants convert this year, Snausages (TM) will donate $100 to New York Pet Rescue in Larchmont, NY.

...ummm...sorry dad but....Go Giants!

St. Anthony's feast

This weekend was the weekend of St. Anthony's feast in my neighborhood. The festivities culminated in a BIG parade with lots of people and this statue being hoisted around the city's Italian section.  Every once in a while it would stop and people would attach $1 bills on it.

Wow. That St. Anthony must have been one awesome dog...

Please sign my guest book. Woof.
