Secrets.

This weekend while my dad 2b was away (see previous blog) my mom's close friend, K, came all the way from Michigan to visit.  While she told my mom that she came to visit her I know the real purpose of the visit - it was really to get some puppy love from me!  I have heard that there is a shortage of chihueagles in Michigan since I moved away.  Don't worry K!  I won't tell mom the real reason for your visit!  It will be our little secret.

What happens in Vegas...

photo: uploaded from www.vegas-gallery.de

*Sigh*
My dad leaves for Vegas Friday evening.  He is leaving me for a "guys", I mean, "boys" bachelor weekend...HIS...bachelor weekend.  My friend Cuffy says that it is my dad 2b's last weekend of freedom.  But seriously folks, he has not been "free" since the moment he gazed into my hazel brown eyes.  I mean, if by "free" you mean free to have me snuggle in the bed with him or free to pick up my poop or free to take me for a walk or free to feed (and buy) my special organic food or free to give me his plate to lick after he's finished dinner then, okay, I guess he still has his freedom.

Happy birthday Mr. Pappa G!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! A Woof out goes to my friend Mike aka. Mr. Pappagiorgio who turns 30 years old today!  Good grief! That is a lot of candles for a cake...on second thought...one would need a cake BIG enough to hold all of those candles...hey, I like that idea.  I hope I get some birthday cake although any cake would do.
(ed. Ummm...Toffee you do realize that your mom and dad 2b are much older than this kid Mike right?)

Toffeetails goes global

Good news! I found out yesterday that my blog has been accepted on the very prestigious canine blogging club "Dogs with Blogs."  Since my blog has been listed on this site I have met some really cool canine bloggers from around the world eg. Australia, Singapore and Malaysia! As you can tell from my picture all of this blogging has left me truly exhausted!  Welcome to my new friends.  woof.

Henry! Please come home!

Help! Henry the adorable yellow labrador is missing.  He accidentally let himself out for a walk  and did not return home.  Luckily, there have been a few "Henry sightings" but as far as I know he has not made it home.  He is the beloved family member and training partner of Ms. Kate Sanders of Wayland, Massachusetts who is, understandably, heartbroken without him. He is also her training partner; without him, she has lost the will to continue on her training for the upcoming running of the Boston Marathon.

Hoppy Easter!

My mom loves this Easter joke so I thought I would include it above...poor bunnies.  Anyway, I would like to extend Easter wishes to my loyal reader(s) today.  I was quite excited to wake up and see what the E. Bunny brought me...unfortunately all that I received in my Easter basket was a measly pancake.  I guess I was on the E. bunny's naughty list this year.

While I am a fan of all Easter goodies, my friend L is a big fan of "peeps" (those sugar coated marshmallow chicks).  On her blog post today she had a very interesting link to the Washington post's "Peep Diorama" contest.  I highly recommend checking it out here.

Boston or bust.

Today my mom did her "long run" for her marathon in May.  She ran 18 miles.  To add excitement to her run she started it at mile 4 of the actual Boston Marathon course.  Dad, (sigh) Riley, and I were there to support her with water and energy gel every few miles.  Luckily the weather was nice and sunny today - not like the weather depicted in the photo above.  I am sure mom would not have made it if it weren't for my aid...and cuteness...cheering her.

Boo hoo Bulldogs. Go State!!

Sadly, the University of Georgia Bulldogs lost in the first round of the NCAA tournament.  It was an exciting game up until the last few minutes but the bulldogs just couldn't do it - maybe those stubby bulldog legs make it more difficult to shoot 3 pointers?  My mom is a little saddened at this loss since she had chosen Georgia to win.  On the other hand, my dad to be is happy because he chose Xavier to win.  Mom and Dad 2b are competing against eachother in a "fun" bracket challenge with the winner getting breakfast in bed.  I personally hope that dad 2b wins because I am not entirely sure about his cooking skills.  I really wouldn't want my mom to get sick...in my bed.

On a happy note - Michigan State won! Yay! Sparty on!
(Michigan state's mascot is 'Sparty' who is a Spartan)

It's a girl!

CONGRATULATIONS to my friends Laura, Paul and Miss M on their new addition...Layla (shown above).  Layla was adopted today from a rescue organization; she is still checking out her "new digs" as I type.  Wishing you catnip dreams tonight Layla!

A beloved Jack Reagle

Meet Guinness.  She is the adored Beagle x Jack Russell terrier of my mom and dad 2b's friends Amazon and NS.  I am sure if Guinness and I met we would be friends too...once I stopped howling at her.  Interestingly she kind of looks like a cross between my *sigh* brother Riley and myself.

Mmmm-mac 'n cheez

Last night mmm-my  mommmm mmmade some yummmmy Mmmmm-mac and cheeeeeze.  I was soooo excited to try some but all I got was whatever spilled on the floor while she was cooking (she made it from scratch!).  boo.  Above is a picture as the mac-mmmmasterpiece was taken out of the oven last night.  Note - my mom changed the recipe and added Tater Bites as the "crust" instead of breadcrumbs for the topping. (ed. the recipe used was from "Fine Cooking" magazine).

Introducing Bianca

We have a new member of our family....Bianca.  Bianca is my mom's new MacBook(TM) laptop computer that she purchased last night at the Apple(TM) Store.  Bianca is replacing Toby the Toshiba Satellite(TM) because Toby was becoming quite slow in his old age (4.5 years).  Above is a picture of me and Bianca right before she hatched.

After my parents "adopted" Bianca they also took a trip to The Cheesecake Factory and ordered a slice of cheesecake each to go.  Sadly, they only got two pieces; I guess they didn't realize that I like cheesecake too.

In case you were wondering I am using Bianca right now to update my blog!

Frosty Paws

(From Sports Illustrated.com)
My dad to be found me this really cool picture on the Sports Illustrated's photo coverage of the Iditarod race. Those are some hardy dogs. I could never race outside like they do - my paws would get cold. The only racing that I am willing to do is to the food bowl at dinner time! To check out the full range of pictures click here.

Couldn't he "dog paddle?"

While surfing the net today I read an article about a man who was on a boat with his dog when it capsized. As the water was cold and the man's dog did not have a life preserver, the man immediately put the dog on top of the flipped vessel. The owner stayed in the water keeping the boat steady until help arrived. The owner was so concerned with his fur friend's welfare that he made sure that the rescuers tended to the dog first. To read the original article click here.

I am sure my parents' would be just as caring if we were placed in the same situation...even if it was my *sigh* brother Riley.

Pesto manifesto.

The nice nurse from Radiocat called today to say that Pesto is now eating her full meal - apparently she chowed down in the still of the night...and...she finally pooped!
(by the way the above pics are of pesto...the food item of course)

My bags are packed, I'm ready to go!

Well...my other cat-sister, Kiwi, feels very left out. In fact, she felt so depressed about Pesto's departure that she packed up a bag of her own so that she could join her sister. Frankly, I don't understand Kiwi. You see if my *sigh* brother Riley were to, say, take a "trip" I would enjoy it! I would have my parents, the bed and most importantly all the FOOD to myself! Silly cat. By the way, a nice nurse from the cat hospital called to say that Pesto did well with her treatment this morning and is resting comfortably.

My spidey sense is tingling

Shown above is Pesto, my cat-sister. As you can see she is packed and ready to go on her trip. Unfortunately she is not entirely aware about where she is going. You see Pesto has a metabolic disease called "hyperthyroidism." This is a disease that is not uncommon in kitties; basically the problem is caused by an overactive thyroid. One of the treatments for this disease is with twice daily doses of oral "anti-thyroid" medication. Another treatment option utilizes radioactive iodine. With this treatment an injection of radioactive iodine is given with the idea that the solution will preferentially target the cells of the thyroid gland. This is the current treatment of choice to treat feline hyperthyroidism. It is usually a one time treatment and in nearly all cases eliminates the need to give oral medication. Unfortunately/fortunately she will have to stay at the hospital for three days to make sure that her "radioactivity" is at a safe level before returning home. Hopefully Pesto will not get any super powers or spidey senses with her radioactive iodine treatment today cause the last thing my parents need is more webs in their apartment.

Untitled

A sincere woof out to my pal Izzy today. She recently found out that she lost a very special member of her family very unexpectedly. I cannot imagine the pain and sadness that Izzy and her family are experiencing at this time. I can only say that I am sure that he knew how much you loved him. It is obvious that he was well loved and has many, many friends that will miss his physical presence. Having said that, I want you to know that he has not left you. I guarantee that his spirit (and that insatiable laugh friends spoke of) will live on within you every day of your life.

I felt this poem would be appropriate:

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.
- Mary Frye*

*exact authorship is still in dispute however to this date the poem is attributed to Ms. Frye

Yay!

Yay!! The problem is fixed - much like my brother Riley but that's a different topic! I am so happy I could pee!

oops! I'm naked!

I don't know what happened!? I logged on to my blog this morning and my fancy background and blog page adornments have disappeared! I am so sad. Maybe Wallace and Cinnaspy could track down where my blog clothes went. Boooo-hooooo. I must drown my sorrows in a pawful of dog biscuits and take a long nap. sniff, sniff.

Me! Me! Me!

I am diverting away from Wallace's tale yet again to talk about one of my favorite subjects - me! The reason for this brief departure is that I have noticed some new visitors from Ohio to my site. These visitors have been directed to this site when searching "chihueagle" on the Google(TM?) search engine. Unfortunately the blog entry that they get linked to does not contain anything about me - not even a picture! This needs to stop, thus I will talk about how wonderful I am in this, the 69th post.

I am a wonderful Chihueagle - that is a mix between a beagle and a chihuahua. Some people call us "cheagles" or "Chi-eagle" but I prefer Chihueagle as it sounds cuter, like myself. I like food, I howl and my nose is always in search of a good scent be it garbage, a dead animal or dirty underwear (ed. you also like run-on sentences it seems!). My nose is not as long as a typical beagle's and I have slightly "bulgy" eyes; this I get from the chihuahua side I think. I also LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to cuddle - this is likely a beagle and chihuahua attribute!

So there you go all you google searchers. This is the word as written by an adored chihueagle.
(by the way I am also from Ohio - go Buckeyes!) Woof.

Hold on, it's going to be a bumpy ride.

After a seemingly endless search for my parents in Africa, Wallace and Cinnaspy decided to continue their search in a different continent - Asia. They hitched a ride with an unsuspecting rickshaw in order to ease their travels around this vast continent.

Numero Uno.

A very special woof out to Miss M who is just about to turn one year old...on March 3rd. It is amazing how fast the time goes - as I am sure Miss M's mother can attest! My mom and dad 2b went to Miss M's first birthday party today and from the sounds of it had a fabulous time.

Miss M's mom made an awesome "Winnie the Pooh" cake (with accompanying cupcakes)...it looks like there would have been enough to bring some home to an adoring chihueagle - but my mom said that everything was so tasty it was gobbled up.

Incidentally, Miss M will be the flower girl at the wedding of my mom and dad 2b...hopefully she will be wearing a little less lasagna on her beautiful face by July...

Phewwww.

Wallace and Cinnaspy decided to take an African safari to try and expedite the search for my parents. On the safari they came across numerous animals, one of which was this handsome tiger. When asked whether he had seen my parents the tiger replied "Why yes I have - they were quite tasty, quite tasty indeed! They tasted delicious; with a note of lima beans oozing from their pores!" Well Wallace and Cinnaspy knew that the tiger was playing tricks on them because if it is one thing that my mom detests it is lima beans and there is no way that she would neither eat, nor serve them to my dad 2b.

Please sign my guest book. Woof.
