Sea kayak in flight, evening delight.

One thing that I have always wanted to do was to view the 4th of July fireworks SPECTACULAR from the Charles River in a kayak.  So once I figured out that it was Independence day and not Indapanties day (see previous post) I begged mom & dad2b to let Riley and I go.  Here we are (above) ready to go out on the Charles River...don't worry we WERE wearing life jackets as neither of us are very good at dog paddling!

We left early to get a good spot. Here is a peek at the crowd that was gathering on the shore.
Here is the best that I could do to take a picture of the skyline - it is a little shaky in the kayak after a few pawgaritas!!
Check out this boat!
This is Tasha - she was out with her PLs to watch the fireworks too!
This is the barge on which the fireworks begin their path of illuminating the night sky
At about 8:30pm the renowned Boston Pops orchestra began serenading us with patriotic selections culminating in the famous 1812 Overture.  It was unbelievable.  Here is a YouTube video taken from the fireworks show a few years back just to give you a feel as to how pawsome the show was:

Imagine seeing that live!!!

We were so close to the action!  Here are some photos that we took...please note that it is very difficult to take pictures of fireworks with a "point and shoot" camera while on the water after a few pawgaritas...

I hope that all of my furry friends had a pawsome weekend!  I also hope that my furry U.S. friends had a terrific Indapanties day...hey! I can still call it that right??  Yayyy for freedom of speech.

That was so exciting! And my mom is sooo jealous. Her brother has SIXTEEN kayaks and teaches sea kayaking off the Va. coast. She says it could not be better seeing the fireworks from a kayak.

Glad you got back safe and had a good time.

River

Hi Toffee!

You and Riley were very brave to go to the fireworks in a kayak! What a great idea. (My Mommy went to college with Keith Lockhart and he's good friends with Bear's Daddy. How's that for a small world?)

To find out about the Million Dog Mosaic, check out my post on Sunday, June 29. It's got the link and the info there. It's very cool and a great cause!

You weren't scared? Momma has only dared to brave the big city once to see the fireworks, but she says they were awesome.
